HI Mark, One thing is it helps to find a dealer that was an IH dealer in the past I have had trouble with the case dealers more. #2 I stand back and if an menanite farmer comes in with a plow part or something I always tell the dealer to go ahead and take care of them first or any one as far as that goes so he's not in a hurry trying to get my stuff. there are just alot of meninite farmers in my area is why I mentioned them,# 3 My dealer sells parts that are from the same place that I get alot of my parts ie: CHINA,INDONESIA,TIWAN, You get the picture, Most of the new parts are about the same quality or worse than good aftermarket. #4 My dealer has been around for about 50 years and I always listen to his exsperiance, He has done it all. I let him talk and ask questions about the old days he likes to tell me things like when CNH took over they asked for alot of the case IH parts back becuase they put the CNH name on a new package and marked them up about 300% to try and make money from there merge or buy out so always ask if they have anything instock before ordering. heck offer to buy them lunch if they take a few extra minutes to look for you or see if you can go to the parts room with them I have found all kinds of nos stuff that way that I have bought. Alsowhen talking about the ol days with my dealer he has brought out stuff for me to see that he has had around for 40 to 60 years that he bought at the prices of the old days also. and he will sell them to me for about a 10% mark up. i bought a set of SH fire cratores for $225.00 with rings and sleeves . that way. So in closing try and find a dealer that was IH back in the day. Overwhelm them with niceness even if they are having a bad day. If you have the time offer to help them or offer them lunch and ask them questions about the ol days and such.Give them time to make there money from big coustomers while you step aside. Now if there youngins, Just there to do a job this may not work, lol JON P.S. There is nothing wrong with buying parts from me either, I will not tell people here about my circumstances but I could really use the bussiness and you would be helping someone that could really use it. If you want a parts CD let me know?

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
