When I was at update school in Racine, one of my instructors put it in a way that IH bought out J.I. Case with Tenneco money, and when you study the line of equipment it was mostly from the IH side. They used the Case tractor until they came up with the Magnum that had the IH drive train that originated from the 50 series minus the powershift. The engine, hood, and cab came from the Case side. But now with CNH we still have the Magnum with IH origins of the transmission, the Stieger which they built 4 wheel drive tractors for IH, and the Axial flow combine that IH started in the 70's. All the rest of the tractors smaller than the Magnum are from New Holland. So in short we now have red blue tractors and blue red tractors. Deere's only bragging right is that they don't have this problem with colors and names, yet anyway.
