Al: having owned at least one of each series, from letter through to 66, I find it hard to agree. The 40-60 sheet metal was some of the poorest of any IH tractors ever built. My 560 sheet metal never had any physical damage of any kind, yet it was always loose, rattling, etc. The last 5 years I had it, haywire held the grill in place, and I'm talking 1970s. Just about every 40-60 tractor you see for sale today has at least one section of sheet metal missing. I expect users ran over it so many time it wont fit anymore. In contrast 04-06 and 56 series had the very best sheet metal IH ever used. It stayed tight, didn't rattle and the attaching devices have remained excellent over the years.
