Sounds good. A utility is pretty secure. That's rare now, and getting more so. Make sure you roll your 401K over - the utility will have a 401k plan or an equvilent. A pension that pays out @ 12K per year is approx. equal to 250 - 300,00 in a 401K, at a 4% burndown rate. Conservative? - Yeah, but when it comes to retirement, I want to be pleasantly surprised.
