Hi Putter, Changing from 6v to 12v will have nothing to do with not having to change battery's. Buying cheap battery's or having a high resistance circuit would make a difference and cause excessive battery replacement. I personaly only buy Optima battery's as they last a very long time, 6yrs plus and there viberation resistant. They will also take repeated discharges without battery damage. My IH-340U was half a$$ 12v converted when I bought it. They stuck on a single wire alternator and added a 12v battery. That's it!!! LOL The engine would only run for about 15min before the coil over heated and killed the engine. I changed the coil to 12v and have not replaced any lites as I don't work in the dark...lol The lites were burned out when I got it. There was a factory alternator option for the 340/330 series. The bare minimum you will need a one wire alternator and a 12v coil with a resistor. Change the bulbs if you want lites. You can use the 6v starter but just don't long crank on the starter. T_Bone

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
