Hi-tac Permatex spray (and brush) Works well for holdong things in place.

Five sealer types are used by me.
Hy-tac, for positioning and hot side seal.

regular brush on Permatex in the blue can for difficult sealing apps.

Permatex #2 non-hardening tube paste form. for removable components (eases disassembly 50%)

RTV silicone for gasketless metal to metal joints, (just a thin skiff of material to avoid squish out and contamination of adjoining areas.

On head gaskets I follow recomendations on manufacturers label. I use Copper coat spray as a head gasket sealer when called for.
