I think the different sizes are related to what material you are working with. In other words, the 17/32 might be what you want if you were working in steel, and the 21/32 would be for cast iron, but I would need to dig out my machinists handbook before I could say for sure. It also has something to do with course or fine threads. I'm sure someone else can tell what you need to know right off the top of their head. If not, I'll crack open the book.
