Mike, the operation is very simple. When using the normal gears 1-4, you select one gear to connect the lower shaft to the upper shaft inside the tranny. The road box does exactly the same, but on the outside of the tranny. You have the main tranny in neutral, and shift the road box 'in', effectively connecting the lower input shaft to the upper output shaft with another set of gears. It just so happens that the road box has a specific gear ratio (overdrive) to make you fly down the road. I suppose, if you were good with machining, you could reverse the function and make a really low-low-low gear. Also, you can (maybe) use the road box as a parking brake by shifting the main tranny into a gear, then shifting the road box in, effectively putting the tranny in two gears at the same time. It may not be a good idea if you forget to shift both into neutral before starting the engine.

How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
