I was out at Unit Rig in 1978 and they an assembly line for these trucks. They had sold a lot of these trucks to the Russians. They came to the US to get familar with the trucks and Unit Rig sent people to Russia after the trucks arrived over there. The weather was bone chilling cold later on when they started using the trucks and one driver had shut off the engine. He built a fire under the truck and things didn't go too well after that. He lost the truck. We had that EMD engine in one of our Mobile Field Dynamometer's that was built by a company in Chicago called Barnes & Rennike. This vehicle would pull the M1 tank easily at 45 mph. I was up there in 1979 and it was 20 below every morning and it did warm up to around zero during the day.
