the kero-distillate engine had a different head, our 42 m was a distillate, we swapped out the head and put the higher compression pistons in it. if i remember right , the kero-distillate would get past the rings and wind up in the oil pan. the oil will be filled to the lower check plug. when the level would come up to the higher one, it was time for an oil change. you also need the shudder on the front of the radiator. you had to fiddle with the shudder control to keep the motor at the right temperature, too cold, fuel didnt burn good, too hot, it would lean out and loose power. id keep er on gas.
