Vern is correct. Black smoke is an indication your engine is running too rich. Either adjust your carb settings, or rebuild carb paying particular attention to float level setting. Your oil pressure problem is not related to the piston rings. Bad rings would make blue smoke. Rings control oil consumption - not oil pressure. Low oil pressure is normally the result of loose clearances in rod, cam or main bearings. Low oil pressure can also be caused by a weak or worn oil pump - which is where I would start first - the oil pump. Pay particular attention to the cover on the pump as they can warp or work loose and cause a loss of pressure. If you still have an oil pressure problem after checking/repairing/replacing the oil pump, then it is probably time to tear into the engine. Some of the H owners can tell you for sure, but there may also be some kind of oil pressure relief valve and passage in an H block, which may be either assembled improperly or which has failed in some way. mike
