Yes, I have seen several bigger IH's repowered with 5.9 Cummins. It's not worth doing unless you've got a gas engine, as the IH diesels are just as good if not better than the 5.9. I know of a couple 1755 Olivers that have been repowered with the 5.9, and that makes a real sweet tractor. The Oliver transmissions are actually quite strong, and you get a three-speed powershift (over-under). Main problem with those tractors was the 310 engine. I had a chance to run a 1755 with a 5.9 one day, I was impressed.
