I put a 45 degree bend in the end of the right size nail and sharpen it on the grinder then drive it down into the old gasket and pick it out of there. Nails are soft enough to not scratch/score the groove that the O ring goes into. You'll laugh about this someday, but you'll still have the oil stains on your floor. Don't ask how I know this. Dave.
