Wardner, The Mississippi Road Supply Company started production shortly after the war at a surplus army base located a Flora, Mississippi. They used only IHC engines and hoped to take a share of the rubber tired construction equipment dominated by Eculid and Cat, and also the high horsepower agricultural market for large acreages. Guy Fay says above that they had a Special model which used the UD-9/TD-9 engine but I am not famaliar with that model. The two models I was famailar with used the UD-14/TD-14 and the UD-18/TD-18 engine complete with all the IHC hood, grille, radiator, and styling. They were rear wheel drive only. The tractors were produced in a farm version which was configured with a drawbar on the rear and large farm tires, 24.5 x 32 I think but am not sure. A number were sold to large operators in the Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisians Delta area and some in Texas. The overall configuration of the 14 and 18 was simular to a Cat DW-10 if you are famaliar with how it looks. The construction version of course had earthmover tires and was configured with a top hitch behind the operator to accept the gooseneck of a bottom dump dirt wagon or a scraper. MRS made the bottom dump dirt wagons in the Flora plant also but I believe the scrapers used with the MRS tractor were either Byceris Erie or Gallion. In the early 60's MRS produced a four wheel drive model for a few years before going out of business in the mid 60's. I don't know where you can find information or pictures on them as the company has been out of business for over 30 years. About a year ago I answered somebodys questions about MRS on this board. I think that individual had found one he was considering buying but I don't raally remember the details. Guy may have some information in the arcives as he is famaliar with a WD-9 size MRS model.
