D Slater, Sorry I couldn't get to answer this till tonight. I had this dissucussion just a few days ago with another learneded LP fellow. Because IH did such a pi$$ poor job of keeping records it is hard to tell. The sure-enough LP tractors should have a [C] in the serial #. He and I, both THINK the LP tractors that went to the Tank Companies for tank instalation, were sent with more of a generic sort of tag, Then after the Tank Company installed the LP System, then stamped it with the C desigination there. There was a Man in NE Texas that had a truck that was ortherized by IH to do LP conversion. Now these were originally Gas tractors, After he did the conversion at a farmers place he stamped the tag to show it was now an LP tractor. The feller had a little black book that hat the farmers name, address, phone #, and the Tractor Ser# !!!! A guy I know try to get him to let it be borrowed, given to, or sellit to him but the old fellow wouldn't. This old IH tech died, and the releatives disperesed his belongings ..... the little black book is now LOST.... there were over 200 names in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The info aand light it could hace shed on this subject. Yes the [D] & [E] designation were on some tractors these are the 2500 & 5000 alt enging setups. He and I are working on a new angle on these Tank Company completed tractors. Don't know it it will pan out yet or not. Hope this helps. Later, John A.

Since this can be extremely difficult, you may want to fabricate the item or purchase a modern replacement temporarily, but eventually, you s
