Your dealer is correct on the new MCV, the steering relief valve has been moved to the steering motor.

The flow divider valve is the only one that gets scored, and there is a fix for that. The dealer can get an improved replacement from his parts stock - check the service letters.

I have worked on these tractors since before yours was made and have only replaced one MCV in that time.

If it really is bad, then I suggest a junk yard, there are many of the 74, 84 series parts available for a reasonable price.
