John: Big change from early 50s. 140 hood still fastens on with J hook. 240 uses screws like all other 40-60 series. 240 hood goes from top of grill all the way to dash. The change over Bill refers to actually happened close to serial number 22000. Three 140 in my imediate area, less than 100 serial number difference in all three. One is old grill, the other two are new grill. One of the new type grill is my 140, 22157. If I were your friend and complete grill is missing, I'd be tempted to go new type. No one that I am aware of are reproducing sheet metal for 40-60 series tractors You will find it for later 140. 40-60 sheet metal was junk, I ran my 560, 17,000 hours and I'll bet 15,500 of that sheet metal was held on by haywire, and rattled the whole damn time. New 140 has adhesive decals. A complete set of chrome plated decals from 1950s Farmall can run as high as $250., 40-60 being the worst.

I can think of a few common, ordinary sounds in my daily life, too.
