Sounds normal to me. I have a 340 with I think the same hydraulic system. Once you start any flow in the hydraulic system the pressure control valve closes and boosts the system pressure to high. That puts a load on the engine and the hoses get stiff. With little flow, hand valve only partially open, the pressure relief valve buzzes as it hits the high pressure limit. Or sometimes the pump makes noise. Opening the hand valve fully drops the pressure some as the cylinder operates. Once you close the valve all the way the pressure control valve opens and bypasses the system and the system pressure drops to a low value. If the single/dual valve settings are not right things will work opposite. You will have the engine loaded all the time and when you open a valve to operate a cylinder the engine will speed up with less load. This condition will also happen if the small orifice and screen are plugged in the control valve module. Regards Gary
