Brian - Not unusual drain a couple gallons less than a full fill from the transmission on account of leakage over the years.

Also do not be surprised if after refilling the tranny immediately begins leaking from the belly pump drive and input shaft seals at the front of the transmission!

These seals often fail when they get old. The leaking however pretty much stops once the tranny oil level drops below the level of the belly pump drive shaft, only to resume leaking once the transmission is refilled to capacity.

Incidentally the belt pulley gearbox retains only about about a quart or so.
