Sounds like its stuck in either 3rd or 4th gear. About the only way to fix it is to pop the cover/shafter off of it and have a look see. Can't help more then that because I have never been into one of them before but from what you say its stuck in gear and the shafter has popped out of the shift rail or the shift rail has broke
