You probably have restricted gas flow from the tank to the separator. Lot's of rust and crud. You may have to pull the tank and clean it. I found that the inline filters can cause more grief than they cure. You can get gaskets at your IH dealer, or you can make a homemade on out of gasket material from your local Napa store. I don't have a clue what could be killing your battery.
