When I was a kid, my cousin used a cub to plow the yard. He had chains, and wheel weights, and used the brakes when necessary. It worked, but was a chore. My buddy also used one, and he chained a flathead Ford V8 to the drawbar to get traction. That added about 700 pounds, and made a difference. I have an 8N Ford that I plow with, and for years I used chains, and still spun the wheels. The constant bouncing up and down over each link of the chains got to me, and so a few years ago I made a concrete counterweight for the rear, and the difference is amazing. I now go better with no chains than I did with chains, and no bouncing down the road, going from neighbor to neighbor. I like plowing them out, and one neighbor goes nuts every storm, because I won't take any money for it. I just laugh. This pic was taken 5 years ago, after a light snow, with no chains necessary.
