Come on Mike, you aren't going to have to rebuild the TA every five years. Sheesh. If you get a good one, you probably won't ever have to replace it in your lifetime. If the TA is out on the tractor you buy, you'll replace it once with a good one from Steel Wheel Ranch. TAs are not the horror story that you seem to think they are. Keep it adjusted, and it will give you thousands of hours of reliable service. It will outlive you. What's so ugly about a 300 or a 350? They're not all that different looking from an H. Painted up nice they make quite a handosome tractor. If you hate the look so much, you can make the 350 into a controversial Super HTA! You'll have to give up the 350's hydra-touch system (the steering pedestal) to get the right look, and do some fabricating, but it's been done many times. Where are you located? If you decide to go Super HTA, I may be interested in the 300's sheet metal for a project of my own: Farmall 330. :)
