Jason, I have a mid 40's A that needed rewired and when I did it, I went to a electric supply sore and got #6 aluminum wire!!!! it comes as 6/3 wire so you will have some waste, but it works well!! I know the guys on here call for 00 wire, but when switched to alum. I do not believe it is necessary!! also I am still only pushing 6 vt's
