Use the 12v (either polarity) from a frame ground to the jumping battery and from the other terminal on the jumping battery to the starter side of the solenoid (NOT battery side). This will spin the starter directly without using the Key in the start position or start switch on the operators platform. The tractor ignition must be turned on. Be careful there will be sparks at the moment you touch the starter terminal, and the engine will crank instantly.
The polarity does not matter because the starter motor only turns one way regardless of polarity, and you are not mixing the two battery voltages at all. The tractor must have enough of its own battery power to provide spark to the ignition, but will not need to crank the starter. All other ways are much more dangerous because the 12v battery is instantly trying to over charge a 6v battery that may be defective, or discharged resulting in an explosion. Keep all sparks away from batteries so that hydrogen gas has no chance of being ignited. JimN
