If it still has a generator, (rather than someone having put an alternator on it), you can switch it back to (+) ground. You MUST polarize the generator AFTER swapping the battery leads, but BEFORE starting the engine for the first time with the battery leads swapped. If battery ignition, verify that the (-) terminal an the coil will be fed from the ignition switch, and the (+) coil terminal will connect to the distributor (points/condensor) for (+) ground operation. Myself, if it is starting well and charging, I would leave it "as-is", 'cause there's always a small chance the polarity of the generator won't switch, even after "polarizing", and, if this happens, all the smoke can be let out of the generator and regulator in a quick hurry, after the tractor is started up and later shut down. GOOD LUCK, if you decide to try it. Probably well over 90% of the time, the polarity swap will work with no problems, AS LONG as the generator is polarized before being started again.

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
