Same thing happened to me one winter except I was using my H with a loader on it to move snow. Got up to the pile to dump my load and went to put it in reverse then Whammo!...let out the clutch and that tractor was hard in fifth gear. When you get the gear shift lever out of the tower, take it to your local Case/IH dealer shop. they will build up the bottom end of the shaft to spec for you and you won't have a repeat of this problem. It really is not a serious problem/more frustrating than anything. (I'd heed the Red's and Bob M's advice too-both are sound ideas/FB
