I'm very pleased with my progress on my F-20 even though it's midnight and I'm tired. Last I posted it appeared the pistons and sleeves were fine and I was wondering what else could be causing my hang upon on that froze engine. Many of you might remember pictures that Nebraska Cowman posted earlier showing a badly rusted up clutch assembly thanks to his heard of mice. My clutch assembly was a close second. I opened the inspection plate and used the Shop Vac to suck all I could get too. With my luck of course the clutch cover was froze and verified my recent fear. After several long hours of soaking and banging I was able to rotate the clutch cover and using the inspection hole I removed all of the bolts holding the pressure plate. Again, with my luck, nothing would budge and figured the pilot bearing was also fused to the clutch shaft. More soaking, banging and a few hours later I finally was able to kick the clutch pedal hard enough to remove the housing (clutch cover, clutch disk and pressure plate in one assembly). Very happy I didn't have to destroy the bell housing to remove the clutch assembly. I had the bottom third of the flywheel fused to the bell housing and after another hour of chipping and soaking, freed the flywheel. The piston rings were lightly rusted (surface rust) to the sleeves. No rust any place else but at the rings and were freed rather easily. I have a few sticky lifters to deal with yet and one of my piston pin bushings has spun and needs replaced. This is the second F-20 I have taken apart to find a spun piston pin bushing. Other than that, everything appears to be in good shape. Since this tractor was last ran in the 1960's, I'm wondering if it is possible the engine parts are still stock from the factory. Any certain way I can tell for sure? The pistons are cast 3 3/4 inch with two compression rings and two oil rings. I will clean the pistons up tomorrow and attempt to locate any markings. I won the battle with those mice this time! Time for me to get some sleep.

Experimental Tractors Article - by Danny Bowes (Dsl). Tractor technology appears to have nearly hit it's pinnacle of development. If you agreed with the subtitle, you are rather mistaken. Quite, actually. As a matter of fact, some of the technology experimented with over 40 years ago makes today's tractor technology seem absolutely stale by comparison. Experimentation, from the most complex assembly to the most simple and mundane component, is as an integral a part of any farm tractor's development
