Mike, its your tractor and only you can make the call. That being said, theres no reason why an H wont start at the original 6 volts if a good heavy battery and 00 gauge Battery n Starter n Ground cables are used so why not keep her original and standard???? YES you can get an exact and same sized genny for 6 or 12 volts NO PROBLEM, either get a new or used or rebuilt (or even have old 6 volter upgraded to a 12) genny and a Voltage Regulator to match what voltage you choose, piece of cake. You can still use the original 6 volt starter regardless what voltage you choose. The light bulbs have to be 6 or 12 volt depending on what you choose. If you go 12 volts you can EITHER use a 6 volt coil but add a series external voltage dropping (12 to 6) ballast resistor or else get a full true 12 votl rated coil, no ballast needed. Of course if you stay at 6 volt use a 6 volt coil. I see no reason to convert an H myself, why go the expense of making her look original when original itself is fine??? so pay your money and make your choices. best wishes John T
