Dave: Bear in mind 310000 is a tractor serial number. It happened in mid 1951. By 1953 engine serial numbers were about 1600 higher than tractor serial numbers. In 48 they were the same or very close, not sure when the spread occured. I expect by 1951, Super A would have been the only use IH had for the C-113 engine, thus it was more economical to manufacture two sleeve sizes than cast two different blocks. After 100 and 200 is where it gets confusing, some of them have smaller bore blocks with thinner sleeves. I've never even tried to follow all of it, but this discussion will probably attract Stan in VA, he has the stats on all of these.
