Ron, These crawlers were built from 1959 to the end of 1964 by IHC Canada @ their Hamilton Ontario plant. There were actually 3 models of these, the T-4( 123 cu.in. gas), the T-5( 135 cu.in. gas) & TD-5 (144cu.in. diesel). In 1965 they became the 500, available in gas & diesel. in late 1969 the became the 500C & in 1975 they became the 500E, production ended in 1978. They were originally introduced as an Agricutural crawler but soon were offered in Construction versions,ie Dozers & Drott loaders. They even produced a skidder version starting somewhere around 1963. Yes many of the 340 wheel tractor sheet metal parts are the same.
Under carriage parts are getting harder to find for these, altough the track chains were basically the same thru all the models. Most early 500 parts will fit the earlier series, but the 500C & E models were quite a bit different.
The production records for the T-4,T-5,TD-5 models are some what of a mystery, as precise #s don't seem to exist, at least no one has found them yet, but it appears there was some where in the nieghbourhood of 5000 units total produced.

Doug
