I grew up with John Deeres and my Dad still has several old ones. I have recently purchased a 1942 Farmall BN and a 1952 Farmall Cub within a week. The BN was rebuilt when I bought it, real nice tractor. The Cub was also very nice but needed a new clutch which meant splitting the tractor. Being a Cub this was not a big deal, but I would not like doing it on a bigger Farmall Tractor. It is a lot to go through to fix a clutch. I watched my Dad replace a clutch on John Deeres a coulpe times which took about twenty minutes each. I only remember seeing that done twice in the fifty some years I have been around tractors. That is not bad considering that is about all that we used for the heavy work. Our neighbor had Farmalls and it seemed they were splitting them quite often and got pretty good at clutch fixing. I would not be too hard on John Deere Tractors. They are neat old tractors. I hope to get few of them some day. I do like my Farmalls. They are neat little tractors and buying them can be addictive. Growing up with John Deeres I am surprised I found myself buying two Farmalls within a week.

Flax provided the fibre which w
