Sounds like its running on the lean side to me. What happens if you choke it at the same time your opening up the trottle?? If chokeing it helps then you have a problem with the carb and either the main jet is dirty or needs adjusted if it has an adjustment that is. If it doesn't have an adjustment you might try pulling the drain plug and pulling the main jet cap and spraying carb cleaner into the main jet to clean it. I have to do that once in a while on one I have that doesn't have an adjustable main jet
