banjo: I wasn't surprised, just rathered annoyed these can take such a jump in 8 years. Here in Canada our government claimed they had inflation licked ten years ago, less than 2% per year. I always been curious what they are buying to achive this. Sure aint the same things I buy. Question I'm starting to ask myself, is did I do something wrong with installation 8 years ago? I've just come in from cleaning it up and what I found with gear housing, while it was full of grease, the grease was full of crushed ice. It looks as though that ice went through the gears a few times as well. Probably it wasn't crushed ice when I started the tractor yesterday morning. After cleaning these parts I'd say ice probably did the damage. Has anyone else ever found ice in distributor drive? I've never seen it before in close to 50 years since being around these tractors. I could see it having water if it was way low on grease. This one was full of grease, even had gobs of grease come out when I pulled the distributor and also the shaft from back side as well. That drive has been regularly greased every 6 months as long as I can remember. Got me puzzled, 1st gears lasted 40 years and replacements only 8 years. I must have done something wrong. Any ideas? I don't want to do it wrong again.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
