I have a 300u and just went and looked at a new pump (I thought I needed), just to be sure. There are only two gears, the drive gear and the driven gear. The drive gear is on a imput shaft that also drives the distributor The driven gear I believe does the pumping. I think you will need to take yours apart and see what you need as there are other parts also. Re: your crank question. Mine did not come with a crank, and I needed to turn #1 cylinder to top dead center to remove/install my hydraulic pump. I used 5/8" rod and a 5/16" pin on the end and I am able to turn the engine to get what I need (with the plugs out).
