There were actually 3 different styles of seats on the M. The first had the small spring in front and the seat support was made out of two pieces of C-channel bolted together to form a 110 degree angle. It had a toolbox under the seat and was used from serial number 501 to 9286. The 2nd and 3rd styles were used from serial number 9287 and up. The second was the same style as the first, but with the seat support a single piece of curved pipe, and the sheetmetal toolbox made to fit the curved pipe. The third style was the one with the big spring and the shock absorber. There were also two different styles with the shock absorber, the one used from serial #9287 to 165270 had a long shock absorber behind the spring, and from serial #165271 and up had a short shock absorber in front of the spring.
