I just took a shaft out of my 400. It had .100 wear in one spot and about .09 in another. I welded it myself and took it to work and machined it down to size. It only took 15 minutes to machine. If a new shaft is $50 you may not what to bother repairing the old one, but ask at your local machine shop how much to machine it. The pedal has some wear, but very little compared to the shaft. The pedal would flop over and go along side the deck before the repair, now it only moves a little bit.
