Sounds to me like the pto sleeve that has the two prongs on the end and enguages to the main shaft in the tranny is worn and probably the main shaft is maybe also worn too much to keep enguaged. You can pull the assy off then you can see how if works. If you want a quick look take the top tranny cover off then you can see how it works. Now if the main shaft isnt worn too bad you can remove the rear pto assy and then take the sleeve and relieve it so the edges arent worn and the two dogs will seat better. I have done two of them and using a GOOD file releived the two dogs fingers or whatever you want to call them so they seat better. If the sleeve is shot i have some good ones.
