One thing to add to what the others have said you need the switch in the Asserriy position to be able to remove it. I have the same type of problem on my 1980 chev 1/2 ton but the key is locked in the on position so I just broke a couple things and use the rod to start it since I'm not worryed about how it looks and I don't have to worry about it being stolen. Shoot if some one is dumb enough to steal my truck then there pretty bad off and will end up worse off then whenthey started. Its a good old truck but you have to know what your doing to be able to drive the thing. Sort of anti theft in its self the way I have it rigged
