Acually I have 2 questions. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine in my 1940 "A" tractor. I noticed that the engine was painted with some sort of orange paint before the block was machined and then painted red on the outside. I remember seeing something about this in the past postings, but could not find it. Was the paint used to seal the inside of the block because of pourious conditions, or was it used to help keep the sand and other imperfections (after the casting process) in the block from coming loose and getting into the oil?. I had the block hot tanked and presure washed to clean it as good as I could. Do I repaint the inside of the block, or leave it alone?.If so, what paint to use? Question 2. The I&T manual says to heat the crank pully to make it easier to put back on, however, it doesnt say how hot, or how long. Im mostly worried about getting it to hot and ruining the front crank seal, any ideas? Thanks all for your time. Steve T
