H front cover changed to same bolt pattern as pumps at engine # 344864 which in most cases is serial # of H tractor also. Cam gears started out with end in D , around 52 or 53 they went to DA then about time 300 series came out or little after they were out the gear went to DB. If a gear was replaced and sold by IH after DB came out thats what was sold to put in H on up. I don't know about heat treating or anything like that to improve gear by looking the only thing I ever noticed is later gears are thicker from hub out to gear teeth.
