In 1953, my dad sold the wide front that came with his 51 H. He had bought both narrow and wide front with tractor when new. Two years later he purchased a 300 with narrow front. Around 1965-66 I gave a guy $100. for a wide front on another 300 and I switched them. Two years later I picked up a narrow front for $15. and I switched my 300 back to narrow front. Sometime we live and never learn, sometimes we learn a little. With the little bit I have learned, I'd never put a wide front on a Farmall unless it had tyrods behind axle and had power steering. IH improved that wide front greatly when they put tyrods behind axle. I wouldn't even consider the old type with tyrods out front. If you want a truly great Farmall wide front tractor, go 04-06 series or newer.
