Factory wide front (M)

How do the support rods hook up to the frame, are they bent slightly outwards to the frame with tension, or do they end up at the frame when put in? Now the story...I bought a factory wide front from a guy and he told me it was for an M but the steering knuckle and spindles are diff. and when I went to install the support rods they end up at the oilpan and have to be bent outward to the frame to drill my holes for the bolts. Is this right or is there a diff. in the width in an M and H factoy wide front????
