MJD: I"m thinking, north pole only has one sunset per year and it lasts for a few weeks. In summer, here in canada we call it the land of the midnight sun, as the sun never sets. On the 21st June the pole has 24 hours daylight and on 21st Dec they have 24 hours darkness. Thuss the photo was taken around Sept 21st. I expect there are weeks both at March 21st and Sept 21st, where there are varrying degrees of that photo. Some will be far more spectacular than others. What we see here around the 45th parallel in a matter of hours, the folks at the poles have go on for weeks. I"m thinking even more spectular than what we see. Thanks for sharing the photo.
