Super A: Problems with front spindles.

Having a problem with the assembly of the front spindles into the front axle extensions. When I was disassembling my tractor for restoration I had a heck of a time removing the right front spindle: top of the spindle was mushroomed a bit. Also, I could hardly move rotate the spindle. So I figured that new bushings were in order. Got the new bushings and had them pressed in and had the spindle tops trued up, (checked that they fit the bushings before the new bushings were installed. Got the first spindle in the axle shaft. It's pretty tight in the housing and I had to hammer it a bit to get it in. The second one is the real problem. It goes into the bottom okay but when it gets to the bottom of the top bushing it is about an 8th of an inch of center. I checked the spindle and it's straight. My suspicion is that the axle extension is slightly bent. So, two questions: How tight should the spindles be with new bushings?
Also, am I hosed with the one that is out and will I need to source a replacement axle extension? My guess is that the front was worked on sometime in the past and they has a bugger of a time with getting it to fit and that's why this spindle has a mushroomed top. Thanks in advance.
