Randy: I lived in Nova Scotia close to 60 years. There is one thing for a potential visitor to remember. Nova Scotia is a peninsula stuck out in the North Atlantic. It takes all winter to cool the North Atlantic and all summer to warm it up. Generally speaking nice weather for tourists is summer and fall. Nova Scotia really doesn't have a spring, we always called it 6 week of rough sleding. Don't get me wrong most of winter will be over by early to mid April. Form there on it just depends which way the wind is blowing. coming off the contenant Nova Scotia will have a nice day. If that old north east wind blows in off that cold water it can be damn miserable. The other factor that can happen in spring is drift ice coming from the north can get caught up in that north east wind, blowing it against the coastline. Quite common to see the drift ice through early May. I have seen East Coast harbours full of ice on June 3rd. I only ever saw that once and it was 40 years ago. The ideal time for a visit to Nova Scotia it late summer or fall, however it will be quite pleasant from early June on.

We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
