The pump can be disconnected and not working. Also it is necessary to have the transmission turning to make it work. That means the clutch must be out with it in Neutral, or the tractor can be in gear moving. If it is atopped and the clutch is in it will not lift. The drive for the pump is under the tractor behind the wierd shaped projection with the keyhole shaped holes in it. It is necessary to remove a tin cover plate to see it. If it is missing parts to drive the pump, they can be found easily. Good luck, JimN
