Progress on 350 Diesel

Well, I have my 350 Diesel engine completely disassembled to the bare block. I found that the crankshaft was broken between the center main and #3 rod bearing. Anyone know how that can happen. It must have really knocked when it ran. This is the tractor I bought that was sitting in the woods and had not run in 12 years (engine was not stuck). Everything else seems in tact. Found rebuild kit from Montes Equipment in Chicago thanks to some of you who gave me places to call. Now I need to locate a new crankshaft. I need to make sure that the block is OK after taking a beating from the broken crankshaft. The bearing caps aren't damaged as near as I can visually detect. I will continue this saga as I work to rebuild this engine. Roger
