I often get a lil excited when working on electrical stuff !!!!!!! Im like Old, not sure what you mean exactly?? You could provide the necessary voltage n current to a distributor so its contact points will switch the coils primary current so the coil fires !!! Thats typically by attaching a wire from the coils low (NOT from ignition switch/ballast) output terminal to the lil side distributor terminal which wires to the points....... You could "excite" the windings on an alternator by feeding hot battery voltage to the lil side No 1R terminal if it were a GM 10 SI family of internally regulated alternators (Dont forget they use Negative ground)...... You "Polarize" a DC generator so it starts charging in the correct polarity........ In old tractor terms the word "excite" is most often used to describe excitation of the alternator buttttttt what are you trying to do exactly????????????? John T
