Hal: I know we have better information today, but just look at all these names in this thread and where they come from. All the way from the IL-WI border almost directly to OK then TX, then across the south to NC, all the way up the seaboard to NS and back across southern Canada, back into MI. Of the 20 people that posted, only Gordo SD and City Boy Mike down in FL were the only two who could say definitely NO FREEZING RAIN. I just wonder if there was ever a time in history, that much of North America was under a blanket of freezing rain. You must have lost your power shortly after you sent that last e mail yesterday. I could see why the cows would be happy to see you coming with tractor and hay. Kind of hard to pick grass through an inch of ice. The interesting thing also if you use the same vehicle always for feeding, cows and hogs both get to know the sound of it. A dozen other tractors or trucks could drive by and they'll never lift their heads, but when that old feed wagon or truck come they are off to greet it before your in sight, especially if your just a wee bit late. So far we haven't lost power here yet. There is an awful load of ice on transmission lines. We had some fog this afternoon but that didn't remove the ice. Next 24 hours will tell the tale here. Those weather folks are telling it's going to turn colder, but they've been telling us that every night for over a week. Now that your getting house warmed back up, stay close to that fireside.

Silo Filling Time On dairy farms back in the 30's and into the first half of the 40's, making of corn silage was done with horses pulling a corn binder producing tied bundles of fresh, sweet-smelling corn plants, nice green leaves with ear; the
